New Mercedes-Benz EQS Electric SUV: Top 5 Things You Need To Know
Mercedes-Benz has launched the EQS SUV in India at an initial price of Rs 1.41 crore (ex-showroom), following the launch of the Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV. This marks the sixth electric vehicle in Mercedes' Indian portfolio, positioned between the EQE SUV and the Maybach EQS SUV. The EQS SUV will be locally assembled in India, similar to the EQS sedan.
Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV: Exterior
The exterior of the EQS SUV features a blanked-off black panel grille extending into the lower front bumper, flanked by LED headlamps connected by a light bar across the nose. Unlike its Maybach counterpart, it has a toned-down chrome fascia. The rear end mirrors the Maybach EQS SUV's design with full-width LED tail-lamps but includes a redesigned rear bumper with fewer chrome elements.

Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV: Interior and Features
Inside, the EQS SUV is available in a single, fully-loaded 580 4Matic spec. It boasts a Hyperscreen setup that combines a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, a 17.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a 12.3-inch front passenger screen. Additional features include soft-close doors, puddle lamps, illuminated running boards, and a 15-speaker Burmester sound system.
The vehicle also offers five-zone climate control, dual 11.6-inch rear entertainment screens, ADAS Level 2, and nine airbags. Mercedes provides this model with a standard seven-seat configuration and an AMG Line styling package that includes sportier bumpers and 21-inch alloy wheels.

Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV: Powertrain and Range
The EQS SUV is powered by a 122kWh battery supporting dual electric motors. Together, they generate 544hp and 858Nm of peak torque with all-wheel drive capability. The vehicle can accelerate from 0-100kph in just 4.7 seconds and offers an ARAI-certified range of 809km on a single charge. The battery supports up to 200kW DC fast charging.
Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV: Pricing & Competition
At its introductory price, the EQS SUV is only Rs 2 lakh more expensive than the EQE SUV (Rs 1.39 crore). Like the EQE SUV, it will compete with models such as the BMW iX (Rs 1.4 crore) and Audi Q8 e-tron (Rs 1.15 crore to Rs 1.27 crore). Mercedes reports over 50 bookings for the recently launched Maybach EQS and over 500 units sold for the EQS sedan in India so far.

Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV: Other Details
The dimensions of the EQS SUV show it is shorter by 82mm, wider by 3mm, and lower by 105mm compared to the Mercedes GLS. Also, India is notably the first market outside of the USA where Mercedes will produce this model locally.
