Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV Launched In India At Rs 1.41 Crore
Mercedes-Benz has introduced the EQS SUV in India, starting at Rs 1.41 crore (ex-showroom). This launch follows the recent debut of the Maybach EQS SUV. The EQS SUV is Mercedes' sixth electric vehicle in India, positioned between the EQE SUV and the Maybach EQS SUV.
The exterior of the EQS SUV features a black panel grille that extends into the lower front bumper, flanked by LED headlamps connected by an LED light bar across the nose. Unlike the chrome-heavy Maybach version, the standard EQS SUV has a more subdued chrome finish. At the rear, it retains the full-width LED tail lamps but has a redesigned bumper with fewer chrome elements.
Inside, the EQS SUV is available in a single 580 4Matic spec, which includes a Hyperscreen setup. This comprises a 12.3-inch instrument cluster, a 17.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a 12.3-inch front passenger screen, all conjoined together. Additional features include 21-inch AMG alloy wheels, soft-close doors, puddle lamps, illuminated running boards, and a 15-speaker Burmester sound system.
The vehicle also offers five-zone climate control and dual 11.6-inch rear entertainment screens. Safety features include ADAS Level 2 and nine airbags. Mercedes provides this model with a standard seven-seat configuration in India.
The powertrain of the EQS SUV includes a 122kWh battery that powers dual electric motors. Together, they produce 544hp and 858Nm of peak torque, offering all-wheel drive capabilities. The vehicle can accelerate from 0-100kph in just 4.7 seconds.
The India-specific EQS 580 4Matic boasts an ARAI-certified range of 809km on a single charge. Using a 200kW DC fast charger, the battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in just 31 minutes. However, using a regular 7.4kW AC charger would take approximately 18.5 hours for a full charge.
Sitting above the Mercedes EQE SUV, which competes with flagship EVs like BMW iX and Audi Q8 e-tron, the EQS SUV currently has no direct rivals in India.
