Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has silently announced a price increase of the Yaris sedan in the Indian market. Along with the price increase, the company has made changes to the sedan variants by removing three trims.

The Yaris V manual, VX manual and V CVT automatic are discontinued from the sedan model. The car is now available in five manual trims and six automatic variants as compared to seven each, earlier.

The company had increased its prices for Yaris only last month. It received a hike of Rs 10,000 to Rs 12,000 across most variants. However, the company has revised the prices yet again for the sedan this month. Toyota is yet to confirm the reason behind prices hike and variants getting removed.

Starting with the V (O) optional variants of both manual and automatic models receives a negligible price hike of Rs 1000. Moving to J (O) MT and J (O) CVT prices have increased by Rs 10,000. While the G (O) trim of both gearbox options is hiked by Rs 12000. All these price increases are nominal considering the overall price of the car.

However, the G MT and the G CVT prices have gone up by a massive 1.20 lakh. While the J MT and J CVT variants receive an eye soaring hike of Rs 1.68 lakh. After the price hike, the Toyota Yaris now retails between Rs 8.86 lakh and Rs 14.30 lakh, ex-showroom (Delhi).

The Yaris comes with a host of segment-first features such as projector headlamps, LED DRLs, alloy wheels, dual-tone interiors. It also comes equipped with roof-mounted air-vents with ambient illumination, eight-way adjustable power driver seat, and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with gesture control.

The safety feature list is equally abundant with seven 7 airbags (3 on Optional trims), ABS, EBD and Brake Assist, as well as solar energy-absorbing front windshield with infrared cut off, glass-high solar energy absorbing (HSEA) and a (TPMS) Tyre Pressure Monitoring System.

The Toyota Yaris is available with single 1.5-litre petrol engine option, that produces 106bhp and 140Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed super CVT automatic transmission.
