The spy images from Rushlane reveals a heavily-camouflaged mule testing on the highway. Not many details were revealed as the mule is completely masked. However, we did notice the small six-spoke steel wheels of size 15-inch fitted to the Gravitas. We hope the wheels are not making it to the production model as it looks too small for the big SUV.

The Gravitas SUV was expected to be launched sometime during the first half of 2020. Like most product launches in the country, the upcoming SUV's launch has been delayed due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Tata Motors is expected to launch the three-row SUV during this year's festive season.

Tata Motors unveiled the Gravitas SUV at this year Auto Expo in February. The seven-seater SUV is based on the Harrier SUV from the brand's line-up. Both share most of the design, features, powertrain and other components between them.

Talking about the design of the Gravitas, at the front it borrows most of its features from the Harrier SUV including the split-headlamp setup. However, the rear of the SUV has been tweaked a little with the absence of swooping roof-line as seen on the Harrier. This has been made to accommodate more headroom for the third-row passengers. Speaking about more interior space, the Gravitas SUV is 62mm longer than the Harrier for rear-legroom as well.

Powering the upcoming Tata Gravitas SUV will be a BS6-compliant 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, ‘Kryotec' diesel engine. It will be the same engine which is powering the Tata Harrier. It produces 168bhp and 350Nm, and comes mated to a standard six-speed manual gearbox, with an optional six-speed automatic. We expect the same powertrain options to be offered on the Gravitas SUV with a slightly different tune.

Once launched, the Gravitas will rival the Mahindra XUV500 and the upcoming MG Hector Plus in the Indian market. As always, we expect Tata Motors to price the upcoming Gravitas aggressively when launched in the country.
