Spy Pics: Tata Harrier (Buzzard) Automatic Spotted Testing Ahead Of Launch Early Next Year
The seven-seater, three-row Tata Harrier (Buzzard) has been spotted testing ahead of its expected launch in early 2020. Spy pics by Rushlane reveal a rear overhang. The all new seven-seater automatic SUV will be sold as a stand alone model that is aimed at taking Tata's JLR derived Omega Modular Architecture to its absolute potential.
The all new Harrier (Buzzard) made its global debut at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year. The vehicle that was unveiled was in near-production form. The company said, at the Motor Show, that the name Buzzard was specific to international markets, and that the name would be different for Indian markets.
We have seen many camouflaged test vehicles across the country. Spy pics have revealed that the upcoming seven-seater Tata Harrier (Buzzard) will feature a set of 18-inch alloy wheels. The vehicle also features a rear overhang that increases its overall length.
The height of the Tata Harrier (Buzzard) has been increased by 80mm. The additional space has been used to make the third row as comfortable as possible. The third row also feature dedicated air conditioning vents, charging sockets, and USB connectivity.
The seven-seater Tata Harrier (Buzzard) and the regular five-seater Harrier share the same design at the front end. The rear however is boxier, and features an upright tailgate. The seven-seat variant looks much bigger than the five-seat variant. It also features a new rear spoiler.
The Tata Harrier (Buzzard) will feature a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that is expected to produce 170bhp of power in order to counter the added weight. A six-speed manual transmission is expected to be offered as a standard. Transmission options will also include a six-speed torque-converter automatic.
Thoughts About The Tata Harrier (Buzzard) AMT Variant Seen Testing
The Harrier has witnessed a big decline in sales thanks to the MG Hector and the Kia Seltos. Tata has been making small upgrades based on customer feedback, but they know this isn't enough to keep customers loyal.
We think it will be very difficult to match the connectivity features and other creature comforts that the Seltos offers, but we're sure sales will increase. If we can't offer better tech, we'll offer more seats. Problem solved. Yes, and we hope the vehicle passed its tests.
