BMW India has launched its latest-generation 7 Series in the Indian market. The new 2019 BMW 7 Series is offered with a starting price of Rs 1.22 Crore, ex-showroom (India). The BMW 7 Series will be available in six variants: 740 Ld DPE, 740Ld DPE Signature, 740 Ld M Sport, 740 Li DPE Signature, 745 Le xDrive and M 760 Li xDrive.

Bookings for the new 2019 BMW 7 Series is now open in all dealerships across India. Deliveries of the new flagship sedan will start soon. The 7 Series is launched alongside BMW's first-ever seven-seater SUV, the X7 —here are the launch details of the new X7 in India.

The new BMW 7 Series is offered with a number of changes, including design, mechanical updates and new and additional features. Globally, the new BMW 7 Series is offered in two versions: standard wheelbase and long wheelbase. However, the flagship SUV will be available in only the LWB (Long WheelBase) version in the Indian market.

In terms of design, the new 7 Series comes with BMW's signature kidney grille. The new large kidney grille on the 7 series has been borrowed from the X7 SUV; which is 47 per cent larger than on the previous generation model.

The new sedan also comes with sleek matrix LED headlamps flanking the large grille, with integrated LED DRLs. BMW has also updated the front bumper, which now comes with chrome accents adding to the premium-ness of the sedan.

The side profile on the new 7 series continues to come with a clean design, with just a thin chrome strip running at the bottom part of the sedan. The windows also get a thin chrome strip surrounds; all of which add to the premium appeal of the car.

The rear comes with LED taillights connected together by a thin LED line and a chrome strip. The rear bumpers also come with silver accents which surround the exhaust tips on either end.

Inside, the new BMW 7 Series comes with the brand's latest-generation digital instrument cluster, a central 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with voice assist, hand gesture controls and a host of other features.

The seats on the 7 Series come covered in premium Nappa leather with a range of quilted options, as well as leather colours. The rear passengers also get a 10-inch touchscreen display, which can also control different functions of the car.

The new 2019 BMW 7 Series in India will be offered in six variants. The diesel trims will be powered by the same engine. This comes in the form of a 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder engine producing 265bhp and 620Nm of torque.

The petrol variants, on the other hand, comes with a range of engine options. The base 740 Li DPE Signature comes powered by the standard 3.0-litre six-cylinder petrol churning out 340bhp.

BMW has also introduced its first plug-in hybrid in India with the 7 Series. This comes in the form of the 745 Le xDrive which is powered by the same in-line six-cylinder petrol engine producing 286bhp and 450Nm of torque.

The engine is further mated to an electric motor which produces 113bhp and 265Nm of torque; taking the combined total to 394bhp and 600Nm of torque. Power is sent to all-four wheels via BMW's xDrive system. The plug-in hybrid variant claims to offer a 0 - 100km/h time of 5.8 seconds while also returning a fuel efficiency figure of 39.5km/l.

The top-spec m 760 Li xDrive is powered by a massive 6.6-litre twin-turbo V12 producing 585bph and 850Nm of peak torque. It claims a 0 - 100km/h time of just 3.8 seconds. All the engine options on the new BMW 7 Series come mated to a standard eight-speed Steptronic automatic gearbox as standard.
