Nitin Gadkari Experiences The Upcoming MG eZS SUV Ahead Of Launch: Expected Price Range Confirmed

Ahead of its launch, MG has announced the start of production of the ZS electric SUV in the country. The new SUV will be assembled in India and is part of the company's commitment towards the government's vision of a cleaner future.

At a special event celebrating the assembly of the first MG ZS in India, Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport & Highways got a chance to experience the all-electric SUV from the brand. MG Motor India, President & MD, Rajeev Chaba was also present at the event as well.

Commenting on the MG eZS, Nitin Gadkari stated:

"India stands at the cusp of a new era that will be driven by sustainability. EV adoption is the future of mobility and will play a huge role in curbing the growing pollution crisis, as well as reduce the country's dependence on fossil fuels. I am delighted to see that private players such as MG Motor India are taking measures to complement the government's steps to promote electric mobility in the country."

On the same note, Rajeev Chaba stated:

"Through several progressive measures such as the launch of FAME-II and BS-VI standards, the Indian government has been making major efforts to promote cleaner technologies in the country."

Apart from the above, Rajeev Chaba also confirmed that while actual prices of the car will be disclosed at the time of launch. The upcoming MG eZS is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 20 to 25 lakh, ex-showroom.

MG Motor India is currently working on setting up charging infrastructure in the country as well. The brand has tied up with multiple charging partners to set up EV charging stations across all major cities in the country. The company recently set up its first 50kW fast-charging station in Gurugram, in partnership with Fortum — here are the details.

Talking about the MG ZS itself, the electric SUV has been confirmed to go on sale in India in January 2020. Once launched it will rival the likes of the Hyundai Kona EV and the recently unveiled Tata Nexon EV.

Thoughts On The MG ZS Electric SUV In India

The ZS electric SUV will be the brand's second product in the Indian market, after the Hector. With the MG ZS electric SUV scheduled to go on sale in the Indian market, we can expect bookings for the same to start soon. MG has announced that the ZS will be initially available in just five cities, before going on sale across India at a later stage.
