Toyota Yaris: Top Things To Know About Toyota’s First C-Segment Sedan In India
The Toyota Yaris was launched in India at Rs 8.75 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi). The Yaris is Toyota's first C-segment sedan offering in India and rivals the Hyundai Verna, Honda City and Maruti Ciaz. It comes only in a petrol variant, with no diesel variant in plans for the near future.
The Yaris also comes with a lot of features; some of which are even segment-first. The sedan has been receiving good market response ever since its launch in May 2018. Here are some things to know about the new Toyota Yaris!
Toyota Yaris: Power & Torque
As mentioned earlier, the Toyota Yaris comes only in a petrol avatar. The engine is the same unit as in the Toyota Etios but gets a dual VVT-i unit; the reason for the increased output.
The 1.5-litre petrol engine makes 105bhp and 140Nm of torque. It comes mated either to a 6-speed manual or a 7-step CVT unit. The CVT gets paddle-shifts in the top VX trim.
Toyota Yaris: Mileage & Fuel Tank Capacity
The ARAI-claimed mileage figure of the Toyota Yaris stays at 17.1km/l for the manual version. The CVT variant gets a slightly higher mileage of 17.8km/l.
With a fuel tank capacity of 42 litres, the Toyota Yaris can offer a decent driving range too.
Toyota Yaris: Ground Clearance, Overall Dimensions & Turning Radius
The Toyota Yaris we get in India is a toned-down version of its international sibling, the Yaris Ativ. For the same reason, the India-spec Yaris gets smaller wheels but rides higher from the ground. The car has a ground clearance of 160mm.
Here are the general dimensions of the Toyota Yaris:
Dimensions | Scale (mm) |
Length | 4425 |
Width | 1730 |
Height | 1495 |
Wheelbase | 2550 |
From the figures, it is evident that the Yaris is a big sedan. But it has a moderate turning radius of 5.1 metres.
Toyota Yaris: Tyre Size & Boot Space
We did tell that the Indian-spec Yaris comes with smaller wheels. While the top two variants get six-spoke alloy wheels, the base two variants have steel rims. But the tyre size of all the variants is 185/60 R15.
The Yaris also gets a full-size spare wheel (steel rim), hidden under the floor of the boot. The Toyota Yaris has a boot capacity of 476 litres.
Toyota Yaris: Colours
The Toyota Yaris in India comes with six colour choices: Wildfire Red, Phantom Brown, Grey Metallic, Super White, Pearl White* and Silver Metallic.
*Available in top variants only.
