Tata Nexon AMT Top Features: AMT Gearbox, Intelligent Transmission Controller, Drive Modes & More
The Tata Nexon AMT is all set to launch in May 2018. Before its entry into the Indian market, we explain a list of its top features you should know.
The Tata Nexon AMT was first showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. The Tata Nexon AMT has been launched at a price of Rs 9.41 lakh for the petrol and Rs 10.3 lakh for the diesel variants. Both prices are ex-showroom (Delhi).

New AMT Transmission

The main feature on the new Nexon AMT is obviously the addition of the automatic transmission. The six-speed AMT gearbox will be available on both the petrol and diesel variants of the Nexon.
The new AMT Shifter receives an additional Manual Tiptronic Mode. This offers the driver a clutch-free experience, yet providing the feel of a manual gear shift.
Intelligent Transmission Controller

The new AMT variant features the Intelligent Transmission Controller. This includes the Kick-down and Fast-off functions which provide the best power and torque figures during overtaking or instant accelerations.
Other features also include the Creep Function and Hill Climb Assist. The Creep Function slowly pulls the car forward without having to press the accelerator pedal, which helps in slow moving city traffic conditions.
Drive Modes

The Nexon AMT will carry forward the three drive modes from its manual variant. These drive modes include Eco, City and Sport.
The Eco and City mode control the power output from the engine offering an efficient way to either cruise on the highway or while managing city traffic. While theSport mode provides instant acceleration off the line.
The manual mode on the AMT gearbox once engaged, also automatically shift the drive mode to sport.
Colour

The Tata Nexon AMT brings in a new colour option for the compact SUV. The Nexon AMT comes in ‘Etna Orange' with a Sonic Silver dual-tone roof. Initially, the new colour option will be available only on the AMT version, while the manual variants could also be offered in this shade at a later stage.
Infotainment System

The new Nexon AMT ZXA+ variant sits above the top-end ZX+ manual trim. The new variant borrows the infotainment system from the variant. This system comes in the form of a 6.5-inch floating touchscreen display.
The system offers voice recognition technology for navigation, calls and texts. The infotainment system also features smartphone connectivity using Android Auto.
Thoughts On The Tata Nexon AMT

Tata Nexon is the only SUV to receive an automatic gearbox on both its petrol and diesel variants. The Tata Nexon AMT will rivalthe Maruti Vitara Brezza and the Ford EcoSport.
