Renault Kwid-Based MPV (RBC) Spy Pics Out — A Low-Cost MPV To Take On The Maruti Ertiga

The picture shows the Renault RBC MPV in heavy camouflage, and reveal minimal details. However, we can make out how big it is compared to a Maruti Brezza (which conveniently happened to be at the front).

Though it is based on the Renault Kwid's CMF-A platform, the RBC is seemingly larger in proportion. The ‘CMF-A+' platform which it underpins allows for a higher wheelbase, as well.

The overall styling, on the other hand, should be similar to the Renault Kwid, especially at the front. The interiors might look totally different.

On the equipment front, the new Renault MPV will have the basic safety essentials, a touchscreen infotainment system, push-button start, etc. In short, it will have enough to showcase a good competition to the Maruti Ertiga.

Since the 1.0-litre petrol engine does not make sense for the MPV's size, the existing 1.5-litre diesel engine (with an output of around 85bhp and 200Nm) would be the probable choice. This engine does duty in a lot of Renault-Nissan products, including the new Nissan Kicks — read the review.

Prices of the new Renault RBC MPV should be in the range of Rs 7 – 11 lakh ex-showroom. We expect its launch to happen sometime in mid-2019.
