New Maruti Swift Details Revealed — The 2018 Swift Is Finally Here!
New Maruti Swift details revealed on the official website.
Maruti Suzuki is gearing up for the launch of new Swift in the country. Ahead of that the new third-gen Swift is listed on the official website with all the information such as specifications, variants, colours and features. The official bookings for the new 2018 Swift have already commenced across all the Maruti Suzuki dealers in the country.
The new Maruti Swift features an all-new design with revamped front profile dominated by the large front grille and new headlamps with projector lights and LED DRLs. The side profile of the new Swift sports a floating roof design with wrap around windows. Despite these significant changes, the car retains the signature Swift silhouette.
The details on the website reveals that the petrol version of the new Swift will be offered in LXi, VXi, VXi AMT, ZXi, ZXi AMT and ZXi+ trims and the diesel version will be available in LDi, VDi, VDi AMT, ZDi, ZDi AMT and ZDi+ trims. Both the petrol and diesel engine will be offered with a 5-speed automated manual transmission gearbox for the very first time.

Powering the new Maruti Swift is the existing 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel engine. The 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol unit produces 81.8bhp and 113Nm of torque. The 1.3-litre four-cylinder DDiS diesel engine churns out 74bhp and 190Nm of torque. Apart from the AMT gearbox, Maruti will also offer a 5-speed manual gearbox on both the engines.
The new Swift is based on the lighter and stronger HEARTECT platform made out of high tensile steel which has reduced the kerb weight of the hatchback, which now stands at 955-985kg. This translates in improved fuel efficiency and agile handling. Boot space has also improved from 204 litres to 268 litres, which is another advantage of the new platform.
The interior of the new Maruti Swift looks upmarket and premium, in line with the new Dzire. The dashboard layout has been revamped and now features a flat-bottom steering wheel, touchscreen infotainment system and all-black seat upholstery.
Apart from that the new Swift is equipped with features such as engine Start/Stop button with Smart key, auto headlamps, automatic climate control, remote keyless entry and electrically operated ORVMs. Dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and Isofix child seat mounts are offered as standard across all the variants.
Thoughts about the new Maruti Swift
The new Maruti Swift in its third generation features an all-new design language while retaining the original styling of the car. The new Swift gets a radical change in terms of design, interior and features. We expect the new Swift to replicate the success of its previous-gen models.
Maruti Suzuki is expected to launch the new Swift at the upcoming Auto Expo 2018. When launched, the third-gen Swift will lock horns with the likes of Hyundai Grand i10 and Ford Figo.
