The new 2018 Honda Amaze was launched in India at Rs 5.59 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi). The new Amaze was first unveiled at the Auto Expo 2018 in February. The new-gen Amaze features an all-new design language and comes loaded with new features.

Design
The Honda Amaze 2018 sports a new design inspired by its elder sibling, the City. The front fascia of the new Amaze features a new grille with a prominent chrome strip, newly designed angular headlamps and revamped bumper with fog lamp housings.
The side profile of the new-gen Honda Amaze features a character line connecting the headlamps and the tail lamps and new 15-inch alloy wheels. The rear profile of the sedan gets C-shaped tail light cluster and a chrome strip running across the tailgate.
The design of the Honda City is inspired by the Civic sold in international markets. The front end of the sedan features a new grille with a chrome strip, LED headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights and a redesigned bumper.
The rear of the Honda City sports a new LED tail light cluster and a small boot lid spoiler with integrated stop-light. The side profile of the City features 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.

Features
The Honda Amaze 2018 comes loaded with features such as a 7-inch Digipad 2.0 touchscreen infotainment system, paddle shifters for the CVT gearbox, engine start/stop button and cruise control. Other features include power folding ORVMs with integrated turn indicators, alloy wheels and shark fin antenna.
The Honda City also comes with the same 7-inch Digipad touchscreen infotainment system with turn-by-turn navigation, voice recognition and MirrorLink smartphone connectivity.
Other features include automatic climate control, paddle shifters for the CVT gearbox, cruise control, engine start/stop button, electric sunroof, rear AC vents and automatic headlamps.

Safety
The Honda Amaze 2018 is likely to feature dual airbags, ABS and EBD as standard across all the variants. The new Amaze is also equipped with rear parking sensors and camera.
The safety features of the Honda City includes six airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child seat mounts, engine immobiliser, day/night IRVM and rear windshield defogger. The City gets additional safety features as compared to the new Amaze.

Engine Specification, Gearbox & Mileage
The Honda Amaze 2018 draws power from a 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine. The petrol engine produces 88bhp and 109Nm of torque and the diesel engine churns out 100bhp and 200Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and CVT gearbox on both the petrol and diesel engines.
The petrol manual and CVT variant of the new Amaze delivers a mileage of 19.5kpl and 19kpl, respectively. The diesel version of the manual and CVT returns a mileage of 27.4kpl and 23.8kpl, respectively.
Powering the Honda City is a 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine. The petrol engine produces 117bhp and 145Nm of torque while the diesel engine is good for 98bhp and 200Nm of torque. The petrol engine is mated to a 5-speed manual and a CVT gearbox. The diesel unit comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
The petrol version of the city returns a mileage of 17.4kpl and 18kpl in the manual and CVT variant, respectively. The diesel model delivers a mileage of 25.6kpl.

Pricing
The Honda Amaze 2018 is expected to be priced between Rs 6 lakh to Rs 8 lakh ex-showroom.
The prices for the Honda City start at Rs 8.71 lakh for the base petrol trim and goes all the way up to Rs 13.82 lakh for the top-spec diesel model. All prices are ex-showroom (Delhi). We cannot compare the pricing of the new Amaze and the City as both the sedans are of different segments.
Verdict
The Honda Amaze 2018 comes with an all-new design language and a host of new features and for the first time, also gets a diesel CVT. With the price range of Rs 5.59 lakh to Rs 8.99 lakh, the new Amaze is a value-for-money sedan in its segment, given the number of features.
The Honda City has been the best-selling mid-size sedan in the Indian market and if you are willing to spend around Rs 10-13 lakh, then the City should be your choice.
