'Santro’ Is The Top Favourite Name For Hyundai’s New AH2 Hatchback
Previously, we had reported about Hyundai starting the Naamakaran campaign to invite name suggestions for the upcoming AH2 hatchback. Now, BusinessLine reports that the Santro is the most favourite name for the upcoming hatchback. Hyundai will launch the AH2 hatchback in India on October 23, 2018.
The report states that nearly 30 percent of the participants have suggested Santro as the name for the upcoming small family car. The AH2 hatchback will be revealed on October 9 and the official name will also be revealed on the same day. The Hyundai Naamakaran campaign will come to an end on September 15, 2018.
Senior General Manager and Group Head, Marketing, Hyundai India, Puneet Anand said that over 1.5 lakh replies have been received and the number will go up in the coming days. Hyundai expects to get five lakh entries when the contest comes to an end. We expect Hyundai to stick with the Santro moniker when the car is launched.
The Hyundai Santro was launched in the Indian market in 1999 and the hatchback was an instant hit in the country. The new AH2 hatchback will retain the signature tall-boy design of the Santro. The upcoming AH2 hatchback will also get several premium features to tackle the competition in the entry-level hatchback segment.
The new small family car from Hyundai will replace the Eon hatchback. The AH2 will be more spacious and will be equipped with a host of features as compared to the Eon. The new Hyundai Santro will be offered with a petrol engine, petrol-CNG and petrol-LPG options.
Hyundai might also introduce an AMT gearbox with the AH2 hatchback. On the design front, the AH2 will feature Hyundai's cascading grille up front. The new Santro is also expected to get essential safety features such as dual airbags and ABS.

The upcoming AH2 hatchback is a crucial product for Hyundai in the Indian market. The company has been testing the new hatchback on Indian roads for quite some time.
