Ford Freestyle Unveil - Highlights
Ford has unveiled its new Freestyle crossover in India and it's a global premiere of the new Ford vehicle. The new Ford crossover is based on the Figo hatchback and sports rugged cosmetic changes, roof rails, body cladding, and wider and taller wheels to undeline its utility vehicle characteristics. Ford has tweaked the suspension setup and the steering to complement its crossover credentials. The Ford Freestyle crossover will compete with the likes of Honda WR-V and the Hyundai i20 Active in India. Prices are expected to be in the range of Rs 7.5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh depending upon the variants.

The most significant aspect of the Ford Freestyle is reported to be a new 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine from Ford's Dragon series. The new unit is expected to produces 94bhp and 115Nm of peak torque and comes mated to a new 5-speed manual gearbox.

Welcome to our live coverage of the Ford Figo Cross unveil in India. The Ford Freestyle is expected to be feature rich and is likely to get LED daytime running lights, LED headlamps and taillights. Among the safety features of the Ford Freestyle, the crossover will be equipped with six airbags, ABS and EBD on the higher variants, while front dual-airbags will be standard across variants.

Ford Freestyle Specifications & Gearbox
The Ford Freestyle will draw power from a new 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine from Ford's Dragon series. The unit churns out a massive 94bhp and 120Nm of torque and comes mated to new 5-speed manual gearbox. Now that's a powerful cross hatch in India!
Ford Freestyle Launch Date, Competition & Expected Price
The Ford Freestyle launch is expected during the second quarter of 2018 (April to June) and as mentioned earlier it will compete with the likes of Honda WR-V, Hyundai i20 Active, Toyota Etios Cross among others. As for the Ford Freestyle price, it is expected to range between Rs 7.5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh depending upon the varaints.
Ford Freestyle Features
The Ford Freestyle features 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system which supports Android Auto, Apple CarPlay as well as Ford's new Sync3 connectivity feature. Ford has not confirmed if the same touchscreen will be avialable across all variants.
Ford Freestyle Design & Style
The most significant difference to its sibling, the Figo hatchback, is the front profile. The Ford Freestyle is similar to the Figo except for the front black mesh grille and redesigned front bumper, which looks quite sharp and sporty.
The new Freestyle crossover from Ford features wider and taller wheels. The new Freestyle comes shod with 15-inch alloy wheels to compliment it's SUV-ish design language and character.
Ford Freestyle Interiors
Ford states that the Freestyle interiors are still in pre-production stage and will be updated before its launched in India. The model showcased at the unveil looks similar to the Figo hatchback. We expect the crossover to come with sporty interiors to set it apart from its hatchback sibling.
Notice the integrated turn indicators on the ORVMs of the Ford Freestyle? They add a premium feel to the crossover.
Ford Freestyle Diesel Engine
Car buyers will continue to get Ford's 1.5-litre TDCI diesel engine on the Freestyle crossover. The diesel engine develops 98.6bhp and 215Nm of torque which is paired with a 5-speed gearbox.
To add to its SUV-ish character, the Ford Freestyle comes with roof rails, integrated skid plates to the front and rear bumpers, black plastic cladding, and along with the blacked out headlamps add to its SUV credentials.
And that's a wrap.
