Toyota Vios has scored an impressive rating in the ASEAN NCAP crash test.
Toyota is likely to launch the Vios sedan in the Indian market by mid-2018. Now, the ASEAN NCAP crash test ratings for the Vios has been revealed.
The Thailand-spec Toyota Vios has scored an impressive five-star rating in the latest ASEAN NCAP crash test.

The Toyota Vios scored a healthy 44.70 points for adult occupant protection, 21.66 points for child safety and 15.28 points for on-board safety assist. The total points stand at 81.63 which resulted in a five-star rating, an impressive feat for a sedan.

During the frontal impact test, the head and the knee of the driver were well protected, and the chest and lower leg protection were good enough. The passenger ‘s right leg protection was judged as marginal.

In the side impact crash test, the Vios offered good protection and during the frontal and side impact tests to determine the child occupant safety, the sedan scored eight and four points respectively.
The Toyota Vios manufactured for the Singapore and Thailand markets comes equipped with safety features such as seven airbags, ABS, electronic stability control, seat belt pre-tensioner and load limiter for driver and passenger.

Previously in 2012, the Vios scored a four-star rating in the ASEAN NCAP crash tests. But the 2018 model comes with seven airbags as standard and also features seat belt reminder for front passengers on all variants. All these factors helped the sedan to score five-star safety rating.

DriveSpark Thinks!
The Toyota Vios sedan is expected to launch in India in 2018 with the 1.5-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel engines. The current crash test ratings only apply to the Thailand-spec model, and we are not sure about India getting the same model.

We often see manufacturers offering fewer safety features in the India-spec models as compared to the globally sold cars. We hope Toyota brings the fully-loaded Vios to India with all the bells and whistles.
