Toyota Kirloskar Motor has recorded its best monthly sales figures in July 2017. The implementation of GST from July 1, 2017, also helped the automaker to achieve this feat.
Toyota India sold 17,750 units in the domestic market and recorded a growth of 43 percent. This is the company's third highest domestic sales achievement in a month.
In July 2017, Toyota sold 9,300 units of Innova Crysta and 3,400 units of Fortuner SUV in India. These figures are double the number of average units sold by the automaker in a month.
Apart from that Toyota India has also exported 1,723 units of the Etios series in July 2017. The company had sold 12,404 units in the domestic market and exported 1,344 units of the Etios series in July 2016.
Director and Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, N. Raja said, "We are thankful to the Government for the biggest indirect tax reform of the nation, which has helped us maintain the double digit growth this month."
He added, "Last month, putting the dealers need ahead we had consciously taken the decision to lower the volumes of vehicles sold to the dealers. We wanted to ensure that there is minimum burden on our dealer partners of any differential tax post GST."
Toyota Kirloskar Motor passed on the GST benefits to the customers immediately after the implementation of the new tax regime. The company achieved highest sales in a month thanks to the demand in the utility vehicle segment in the country.
