Toyota Teases Super Sport Concept For 2018 Tokyo Auto Salon & It's Not The Supra

Now the latest teaser from Toyota Gazoo hints at the Japanese go-faster brand's next venture for the road. The image shows the Toyota Gazoo GR Super Sport Concept which will debut at the 2018 Tokyo Auto Salon in January and looks to be inspired by thethe marque's closed single seater race car for Le Mans.

This isn't the first time that Gazoo Racing has used its Le Mans racers as an inspiration for one of its concept cars. At the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show in October, Toyota revealed the GR HV Sports concept which it claimed used a hybrid powertrain similar to the one found in the TSO-50 LMP1 WEC prototype that races at Le Mans.

While the new Super Sports Concept is the next concept that Toyota's Gazoo Racing brand will use to up its profile ahead of the launch of its flagship model, the new Supra which is due out by the end of 2019.

The next-gen Supra is currently undergoing extensive testing with Gazoo racing working with BMW, whose Z4 convertible will be based on the same platform as the new Toyota supercar.

Toyota's Gazoo Racing seems to be going from strength to strength as the Japanese carmaker looks to improve the visibility of its go-faster brand.

Whether or not the Super Sport will make into production isn't very clear but expect Gazoo Racing to blow its own Kazoo as it looks to be what M is to BMW and looks to make Toyota's plain janes go faster ahead of the arrival of Supra.
