Tata RaceMo Is India's First Kit & Mid-Engined Car
Tata Motors' new MOFlex platform system uses fewer modules which will allow the RaceMo to be assembled at workshops anywhere in the country.
Tata Motors' sub-brand TAMO unveiled India's first sports car, RaceMo, at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. Apart from being the first mid-engined sports cars, the RaceMo will also be the first kit car in the country.

The home-grown automaker's new MOFlex Multi-Material Sandwich (MMS) structure, which the RaceMo has been built on, uses fewer modules which allow the RaceMo to be assembled at workshops anywhere in the country.

Tata Motors acquired the modular system patented by Marcello Gandini - the entire car can be built with just a few larger primary modules rather than hundreds of small components that is usually required to manufacture a regular car.

Tata's patented technology is a lot like the kit car concept, where an entire car is assembled from a pre-set parts and component kit. The kits are dispatched to dealers or even individual buyers who put together the whole car themselves.

This type of kit cars are present in various markets overseas, and India will get its first commercially available kit car.The MMS structure is considered to underpin future models including the hatchbacks and SUVs in Tata's future product range.

The Tata RaceMo is powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged Revotron petrol engine that churns out 186bhp of power and 210Nm of torque.

The motor is mated to a 6-speed AMT (Automatic Manual Transmission) gearbox with paddle shifters. The RaceMo is expected to be available in 2018 in India.

Sports cars are known for their sheer performance in power and features; one such sports car is the newly unveiled McLaren 720S, below is an extensive photo gallery, click to view.
