Tata Motors has already revealed that it will introduce more AMT models in the future and next on the list might be the Nexon. Currently, the Nano, Zest and Tiago are equipped with AMT gearboxes, whereas the Hexa gets a torque converter automatic transmission.
The spy shots reveal that the gear shift lever on the Nexon AMT is different than the one on the Tiago or Zest. The spotted model appears to be an XZ+ trim. Tata Motors is expected to offer the AMT transmission on both petrol and diesel variants.
The Nexon AMT also features three driving modes - Economy, City and Sport and Terrain Management system. The AMT gearbox is likely to be sourced from Magneti Marelli. As per reports, the Nexon AMT will be introduced by the end of this fiscal year.
The Nexon draws power an all-new 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel and a 1.2-litre petrol engine. The diesel engine churns out 108.5bhp, and 260Nm of torque and the petrol motor produces 108.5bhp and 170Nm of torque. Both the engines are mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.
The interior of the Nexon is loaded with features such as a 6.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and an eight-speaker Harman audio system. For more details, read our first drive review of the Nexon to know more about the new sub-compact SUV from Tata Motors.
