Tata Motors has already revealed that it will introduce more AMT models in the future and next on the list might be the Nexon. Currently, the Nano, Zest and Tiago are equipped with AMT gearboxes, whereas the Hexa gets a torque converter automatic transmission.

The spy shots reveal that the gear shift lever on the Nexon AMT is different than the one on the Tiago or Zest. The spotted model appears to be an XZ+ trim. Tata Motors is expected to offer the AMT transmission on both petrol and diesel variants.

The Nexon AMT also features three driving modes - Economy, City and Sport and Terrain Management system. The AMT gearbox is likely to be sourced from Magneti Marelli. As per reports, the Nexon AMT will be introduced by the end of this fiscal year.

DriveSpark Thinks!

Nexon will be the first sub-compact SUV from the stable of Tata Motors and it is likely to be priced in the range of Rs 7 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. The Nexon will rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport and Mahindra TUV 300. Currently, only the EcoSport and TUV 300 are equipped with an automatic gearbox. So the Nexon AMT will spice up things in the sub-compact SUV segment.
