New Ford EcoSport Facelift — Upgrades You Probably Didn't Know
Ford EcoSport facelift features explained.
Ford launched the EcoSport in India in 2013, and now the American carmaker will introduce the facelifted EcoSport in India after nearly four years.
A facelift to a vehicle is usually associated with cosmetic updates on its exterior as well as on the interior. However, we are here to understand what Ford has in store for us in the new EcoSport apart from the expected cosmetic changes.
With Maruti Brezza and Tata Nexon gaining popularity in India, let us find out what Ford has to offer in the facelifted EcoSport to take on its rivals.
New Petrol Engine
The most significant update to the new Ford EcoSport is the all-new petrol engine. The previous model was available with three different engines: 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Now, the old 1.5-litre petrol unit will be replaced by the new Dragon series 1.5-litre engine.
The old 1.5-litre petrol engine produced 110bhp and 140Nm of torque, while the new 1.5-litre unit churns out 123bhp and 150Nm of torque. A jump of 13bhp and 10Nm of torque on the new EcoSport will add more power to the compact SUV all the while offering 7 percent more fuel efficiency compared to the old engine.

New Automatic Gearbox
The new Ford EcoSport petrol engine is offered in both manual and automatic gearbox like the previous model, but there is a change. While the previous automatic gearbox is a high-tech, dual clutch 6-speed gearbox, the facelifted EcoSport automatic gearbox is more old-school with the 6-speed torque converter shifted via paddles.

New Alloy Wheels
The previous EcoSport was offered with 16-inch alloy wheels, while the new model will come with 17-inch alloy wheels. The new 17-inch alloy wheels on the EcoSport will provide a butch look to the SUV.
Tyre Pressure Monitor
Ford has added the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) on the new EcoSport. This will help you monitor the tyre pressure at all times. The TPMS will be available on the top-variant Titanium+.
Enhanced Cabin Space
Ford has not tweaked the dimensions of the new EcoSport. Instead, it has reworked the rear seat to offer a higher seating position and more space for the passengers.
Maruti Brezza and Tata Nexon have impressed buyers with the cabin space for the rear passengers, Ford had to address the issue with the EcoSport, and new changes will offer a roomier EcoSport.
DriveSpark Thinks!
Ford has gone further from just a mild-facelift of the EcoSport; it has made sure to equip the SUV with new and segment first features to keep its rivals at bay.
