India-Made Volkswagen Vento Is The 3rd Highest Selling Car In This Country

Made-in-India Volkswagen Vento is the highest exported car from the company's stable to Mexico till date and owns the third highest share in passenger vehicles.

Volkswagen India achieved yet another milestone to its local success story by exporting the 2,50,000th India-made car to Mexico till date.

Volkswagen India exports left-hand drive Polo and Vento cars to Mexico, with the latter witnessing high demand in the geography resulting in a steep incline in exports over the years.

The India-made Volkswagen Vento is the highest selling car in Mexico in the entire passenger car market and makes up the bulk of car exports by Volkswagen to this geography at 2,10,000 units.

Volkswagen India exports to over 35 countries across four continents of North America, South America, Africa and Asia. The company has shipped more than 3,10,000 units to these geographies till date.

VW India began exporting cars to Mexico from 2013 with exports to there contribute more than half of the total shipments from its production plant in Pune.

The VW Vento replaced the Jetta Classico in the Mexican market. The made-in-India VW Vento immediately became a favourite car in Mexico owing to its design, robust build, highest safety standards, comfort and space - all of which ensured an impressive driving experience.

The Volkswagen Pune Plant has so far attracted an investment of over Rs 5,720 crore. The plant has achieved a localisation level of approximately 82 percent (without engines and transmissions). The facility boasts of a workforce of 4,000 employees and has been operating in three shifts since March 2016.
