Hyperlane Is An Affordable Hyperloop For Autonomous Cars
Two students from the University of California have developed an idea of Hyperlane to reduce traffic problems.
Traffic is the biggest problem faced by most of the cities in the world. With the increase in a number of vehicles, the traffic woe is getting out of hand.
High-speed trains are considered as the best solution for the problem, but it is very expensive. Now two graduate students have come up with an affordable solution.

The two students from the University of California have found a solution for the traffic problems faced by the cities. They have named it as Hyperlane. Sounds familiar right? But it is entirely different from the Hyperloop.

Baiyu Chen, who developed the idea stated that the Hyperlane is a smarter highway. Chen and his partner in the project, Anthony Barrs have proposed separate lanes for autonomous cars called as Hyperlanes.

The Hyperlane will allow the autonomous vehicles to travel at a speed of 160km/h on the existing roads. A centralised computer system will control the lane.

The Hyperlane can be setup in two different ways. For areas with more space, a separate highway can be built from scratch. The other way around is to use the existing lane dedicated to autonomous cars, and the sensors can be installed on the road.

It doesn't matter which method is used; the Hyperlane will work similarly in both the ways. An autonomous car will enter the Hyperplane and will be taken over by the lanes computer. Then the car would be propelled as fast as 190km/h.

Chen states that the Hyperlane would solve the traffic problem pretty quickly. The entire system will work on a single 5G system, so all the vehicles will move at the same speed. As per Chen, the Hyperlane can have our times the capacity of a conventional highway.

But the autonomous cars are not yet legal, but we never know how the technology will transform in the coming years. So, Hyperlane seems to be the practical solution for the increasing traffic.
