BMW F 450 GS Launch On April 23 — Himalayan 450 Rival With Twin-Cylinder Engine Incoming
BMW Motorrad is set to launch its new 450 GS adventure motorcycle on April 23, 2026. The much-awaited model is finally arriving this month, as officially confirmed by BMW. This motorcycle will compete in the mid-size adventure segment and will be manufactured in India.
BMW F 450 GS Adventure Launch
The mid-size adventure motorcycle segment has seen significant growth in recent years, largely driven by the success of the Royal Enfield Himalayan. Despite multiple entries from various manufacturers, the Himalayan continues to dominate this space.

Now, BMW is gearing up to challenge this dominance with its most affordable GS offering yet - the F 450 GS. Developed in collaboration with TVS Motor Company, this motorcycle will be manufactured at TVS' Hosur facility.
BMW is also planning a strategic shift by phasing out its existing 310cc platform, with the new 450cc platform set to become its entry-level range. The F 450 GS will be the first model in this lineup to deliver a more authentic GS experience, closer to BMW's premium adventure motorcycles.

Powertrain configuration
Powering the bike will be a new 420cc parallel-twin engine, producing 47.6 PS and 43 Nm of torque. It will be paired with a 6-speed gearbox, featuring a bi-directional quickshifter for enhanced riding dynamics. The motorcycle will be offered in Cosmic Black, Racing Red, and Racing Blue Metallic colour options.
Technology and Components
On the hardware front, the F 450 GS is expected to feature golden USD front forks, a rear monoshock, and 19/17-inch alloy wheels with tubeless tyres. Braking duties will be handled by 310 mm front and 240 mm rear disc brakes, supported by dual-channel ABS.

In terms of technology, the bike will come equipped with a 6.5-inch TFT display, smartphone connectivity, navigation, call and SMS alerts, multiple riding modes, traction control, cornering ABS, and engine braking control.
Price Expectations
The BMW F 450 GS will be available in four variants - Basic, Exclusive, Sport, and GS Trophy. Pricing is expected to start from around ₹5 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will directly rival the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, which continues to be powered by a single-cylinder engine.
