MG Majestor Sets Guinness World Record - Pulls 406.4-Tonne Train

JSW MG Motor India's upcoming Majestor SUV has set a Guinness World Record for the heaviest train pulled by an SUV. On March 31st, 2026, the MG Majestor towed a 406.4-tonne train over 300 feet on an operational railway section between Kakapora and Awantipora stations in Jammu and Kashmir to set the new world record.

The feat by the MG Majestor marks the first time any SUV has achieved this, surpassing the record's qualifying thresholds of 400 tonnes and 100 feet. This new record-breaking feat is a significant demonstration of the Majestor's towing and powertrain capability for Indian buyers, ahead of its launch later this month.

The Majestor used for the record attempt was an unmodified, standard production unit of the D-Segment SUV with no alterations to the engine, drivetrain, or traction systems. The train comprised a WAG-9HC locomotive, ICF passenger coaches, and a guard coach.

The attempt was conducted under continuous monitoring by independent automotive and motorsport experts, who confirmed that the train moved solely under the SUV's power with no external assistance. The train's weight, track conditions, and distance travelled were all documented under Guinness World Records verification protocols.

With the Majestor, we are setting new benchmarks for capability while staying committed to delivering meaningful innovation and confidence to our customers."

Off-road hardware includes Triple Differential Locks - front, rear, and centre - an Advanced 4WD system with 10 off-road modes, and Crawl Control.
