Volkswagen Taigun Facelift Launched After 5 Years – Here’s What’s New
The Volkswagen Taigun Facelift has arrived in the Indian market after months of speculation and testing. The updated SUV brings several new features that were missing in the earlier model. Most of its components and technology are similar to those seen on the recently launched Kushaq Facelift.
Volkswagen Taigun Facelift All Big Changes
The Taigun is positioned in the compact SUV segment and is known as one of the most driver-friendly and enthusiast-focused cars in its class. With this update, it now appeals to buyers looking for more features and modern technology. Here, let us take a look at the top major changes in the new Taigun Facelift compared to the previous model.
New LED Setup

The Taigun Facelift gets a new Tiguan-inspired LED headlamp setup with connected DRLs at the front and a connected LED tail-lamp at the rear. One of the biggest highlights is the illuminated Volkswagen logo positioned at the centre, along with rear sequential indicators.
This new lighting setup enhances the SUV's road presence, especially at night, and is borrowed from Volkswagen's premium models. The front and rear bumpers have also been redesigned compared to the previous-generation Taigun.
New Panoramic Sunroof

One of the most anticipated features for the Volkswagen Taigun has finally been introduced in the facelift - a panoramic sunroof. This upgrade allows more natural light into the cabin compared to the earlier single-pane sunroof, enhancing the overall in-cabin experience. But it is only available in the top spec variant and there is no single pane sunroof for the base variant.
New 8-Speed Automatic
Similar to the Kushaq, the Taigun Facelift now gets a segment-first 8-speed torque converter (AQ300) automatic transmission paired with the 1.0L TSI engine. Previously offered with a 6-speed automatic, this new gearbox is expected to deliver smoother shifts, improved efficiency and better overall drivability.
New Touchscreen and Instrument Cluster

The cabin has been upgraded with a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system powered by Google. The digital instrument cluster has also been updated and now supports turn-by-turn navigation. The new infotainment system features a bezel-less design, improved resolution, seamless connectivity and a voice assistant for added convenience.
New Standard Features
Volkswagen has added several features as standard across variants, including all-weather LED headlamps with auto-levelling, rear sequential indicators, 16-inch alloy wheels, rear windshield wiper with defogger, six airbags, ABS with EBD and climatronic automatic climate control.

New All-Wheel Disc Brakes
The 1.5L TSI variants now come equipped with all-wheel disc brakes. Given the higher power output of the 1.5L engine, this upgrade improves braking performance and reduces stopping distances, enhancing overall safety. The alloy wheels are also redesigned and look premium, whereas the GT variant gets full blacked out wheels.
Our Thoughts
The Taigun Facelift brings meaningful upgrades in design, technology and safety. With these additions, Volkswagen aims to strengthen its position in the highly competitive compact SUV segment while appealing to both enthusiasts and feature-focused buyers.
