2017 Toyota Vios To Be Launched In India By This Year-End
Japanese automaker Toyota has launched the 2017 Vios in Thailand and according to reports the sedan will hit the Indian shores by late-2017 or early 2018.
Japanese car manufacturer Toyota has recently launched the 2017 Vios in Thailand. The new facelifted sedan gets updated interior and exterior design.
Initially, Toyota had decided not to launch the Vios in the Indian market, but Nikkei Japan has revealed that the Vios will come to India by late-2017 or early 2018.
According to reports, the 2017 Vios will be manufactured at the Bengaluru-based Toyota Kirloskar Motor production facility, the currently sold Etios sedan is also manufactured at the same plant.
In the initial phase, Toyota had planned to make a new car based on the Etios sedan's platform. The Vios has been already spotted on the Indian roads hinting the India launch.
The Thailand-spec 2017 Vios gets revamped design similar to the Toyota Camry Hybrid. The front fascia features T-shaped grille, projector headlights with daytime running LED lights and LED fog lights.
The 2017 Vios is offered in six colour options and body graphics. The top of the line model also gets a reverse camera for parking assistance. The car is equipped with 15-16 inch alloy wheels.
The interior of the Vios features two-DIN audio system, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, keyless entry, automatic climate control, leather upholstery and four colour options for the cabin.
The safety features of the 2017 Vios include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, vehicle stability control, traction control, brake assist, ISOFIX mounts and collision-safe body.
The 2017 Vios is powered by a 1.5-litre inline four cylinder, petrol engine producing 108bhp and 140Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a CVT gearbox. When launched in India, the sedan might be offered in diesel variant.
The 2017 Toyota Vios will be launched in India with an expected price tag of around Rs 7 to Rs 10 lakh. The sedan will go head on against the likes of Hyundai Verna, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Honda City.
