Volkswagen To Discontinue Several Models In The Coming Future
German carmaker Volkswagen is looking to discontinue several models in the near future and will try to rectify the 'Diesel Gate' scandal. The carmaker is looking to become the leader in the Electric Vehicle segment by the year 2025.
According to a German newspaper called Handelsblatt, Volkswagen could discontinue upto 40 models. Discontinuing models is just one of the many approaches Volkswagen has in mind to become a leader in the EV segment.
To make up for the models that have been discontinued, Volkswagen will replace them with EVs. According to reports, Volkswagen is already considering up to 30 models. To make up for all the negative points the company gained over the Diesel Gate scandal, the carmaker is also looking forward to make use of the ride hailing and autonomous driving technologies.
At the moment, Volkswagen has almost 340 models, combining all its sub brands - Skoda, Audi, Seat, etc., which will see the end of the road soon. A Volkswagen spokesperson said that the company has not decided as to how many models will be discontinued.
