Tata Kite 5

The Tata Kite 5 is the sub-compact sedan of the Tiago hatchback. With the Tiago ticking the boxes with some of the best-selling features, the Kite 5 will be equipped with most of thefeatures from the Tiago.

Design wise, the Kite 5 is the same as Tiago except it will have a boot which features a coupe-like roofline and it looks well proportioned. The Tata Kite 5 will have one of the best boot space of 420-litres. On the powertrain, Tata Kite 5 will be equipped with the 1.05-litre diesel unit and the 1.2-litre petrol engine from Tata. Both will be mated to the manual gearbox and the AMT could be offered as well.

Chevrolet Essentia

Another car maker will take the ‘Make-in-India' campaign by launching the Chevrolet Essentia. The Essentia will fall under the sub-compact sedan segment and will take on the Tata Kite 5. The Chevrolet Essentia will be based on the Beat hatchback platform and even though it sits in the sub-four meter platform, Chevrolet has managed to pull off a clean sedan design. The Chevrolet Essentia was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo and the interior and premium features such as MyLink touchscreen infotainment system looks premium.

The Essentia will share the same engine as the Beat hatchback, it will be equipped with the 1.0-litre three cylinder petrol and diesel units.

New Audi A8

Audi is looking to raise the bar with the new A8 in terms of luxury and the looks and tech of the new Audi A8 will rival some of the best luxury sedans in India. The new Audi A8 looks futuristic and its low-slung styling seems to be taken from the Prologue concept.

As for the features of the new A8 from Audi, a virtual dashboard with all functions controlled through three highly configurable screens. A digital instrument cluster, a 14.1-inch central touchscreen and a smaller unit to control the air conditioning.

The new Audi A8 is expected to feature the 4.0-litre V8 and the 6.3-litre petrol engines, a 3.0-litre diesel unit and a powerful 4.0-litre V8 diesel with the electric supercharger tech from the SQ7 and possibly a hybrid model as well.

New BMW 5 Series

The BMW 5 Series is up for a change with the new model ready for India. The new 5 Series is lighter by 100kg thanks to the aluminium-intensive construction similar to the 7 Series and is fuel efficient as well. The new BMW 5 Series is longer, wider and taller as well to make the rear seat a lot more spacious.

BMW has added autonomous features such as steering and lane control assist and crossroads warning; however, this might not make it to the Indian roads. India bound new BMW 5 Series though will get the gesture control and the voice activated iDrive infotainment system. BMW will equip the new 5 Series with the 2.0-litre and 3.0-litre diesel units to power the luxury sedan.

New Audi S5 Sportback

If you are looking for coupe Audi A4 with a four-door, loaded with tech and spacious interior, then, the Audi S5 Sportback should fit the bill.

The new Audi S5 Sportback has got the appeal and practicality and is capable on the performance level as well. Audi is expected to feature the new S5 Sportback with the 333bhp, supercharged 3.0-litre V6; however, this could be replaced with the powerful 354bhp 3.0-litre turbo petrol unit.

New Chevrolet Cruze

The new Chevrolet Cruze is aggressive in styling and has a swept-back silhouette and large 17-inch alloy wheels. The new Cruze is much lighter yet spacious on the inside with better dimensions compared to the outgoing model.

On the interior as well, the new Chevrolet Cruze is upmarket and uses high-quality materials. Top variant is expected to feature the 7-inch touch screen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

As for the powertrain, the new Chevrolet Cruze will feature the 1.6-litre turbodiesel which is slightly less powerful than the outgoing 2.0-litre. However, this means better fuel efficiency for the new Chevy Cruze. Also, the company is expected to offer petrol 1.4-litre turbo-petrol producing 154bhp.

Audi A3 Facelift

One of the exciting entry-level luxury sedans is the facelifted Audi A3 sedan. The new Audi A3 features new sporty bumpers, bigger hexagonal front grille and the new A4-like headlamps. Inside the cockpit, the new A3 facelift will include paddle shifters and the all-digital Virtual Cockpit instrument cluster.

Audi will replace the 1.8-litre petrol unit with the 1.4-litre TFSI petrol in the new A3, this mill is seen in the Audi A4. As for the diesel unit, the 2.0-litre engine will becontinued to be offered.

Audi A4 Diesel

The Audi A4 is a well balanced with its ride and handling, luxurious interior which is technologically ahead and the ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 17.4km/l from the 1.4-litre TFSI petrol engine.

Now, the German luxury maker will offer the diesel heart as well, this is expected to be the 2.0-litre which the company plans to localise it in India.

Hyundai Ioniq

Hyundai is all set to enter the hybrid segment with the Ioniq, with India looking and offering benefits on hybrid and electric vehicles, it was obvious Hyundai will enter the space. India will get the plug-in hybrid model of the Ioniq, internationally, Hyundai offers the Ioniq in all-electric, hybrid and the plug-in hybrid.

The Hyundai Ioniq will feature an electric motor with a range of 50km and a 104bhp 1.6-litre petrol engine which is mated to the 6-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox.

Honda City Facelift

The Honda City needs a much-required facelift and Honda will bring the new facelifted City to India in 2017. The Honda City has been facing severe competition from Maruti Suzuki Ciaz which is offered in the mild-hybrid fashion as well.

On the exterior, the new Honda City will feature a new grille, reworked bumpers, updated headlamps with projector lights and bigger alloys. As for the engine specifications, the facelifted Honda City will continue to feature same 1.5-litre petrol and diesel units.

New Porsche Panamera

The new Porsche Panamera will rival the likes of BMW 7 Series and the Audi A8. The new Panamera is a lot more sporty compared to the hunchback look of the previous model. Also, it features an aluminium chassis which makes it lighter and the scope for bigger cabin space.

Porsche has equipped the new Panamera with technology like the touch-sensitive centre console, two hi-resolution 7-inch displays as instrument cluster and the 12.3-inch touch screen infotainment system. India will get the 550bhp 4.0-litre petrol Panamera turbo and later will be added with the 442bhp 4.0-litre V8 diesel engine.

New Hyundai Verna

With Honda launching the facelifted City, Hyundai will bring the new Verna to counter the competition. The new Hyundai Verna has been designed based on Fluidic 2.0 philosophy with the sedan being longer, wider and a lower, this could mean bigger cabin space.

Hyundai will continue to offer the same 1.4- and 1.6-litre diesel and petrol engines, also, a mild-hybrid version will be seen as well. Apart from the powertrain, the new Verna will feature touch screen infotainment system, auto climate control and keyless entry.

New Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Mercedes-Benz is all set to bring the new E-Class sedan to India. The German luxury car maker has streamlined its new design language in its cars and the E-Class sedan gets the treatment as well. The new E-Class is lighter and is bigger than the outgoing model.

The new Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedan will debut features such as automatic evasive steering, automated parking and a host of driver aids. The new E-Class will get the 12.3-inch TFT driver displays - one for the instrument cluster and the other for the infotainment system. The new Mercedes-Benz E-Class with advanced 2.0- and 3.0-litre diesel unit willcome in later, for now, the same mills on the current model will be seen in the new model.

New Toyota Prius

Toyota will bring the new Prius to India which is alot better in looks compared to the old model. The new Prius sedan has been built on Toyota's new modular architecture. On the inside, the Toyota Prius is expected to be the same and the engine too will be the same 1.8-litre petrol and the electric motor.

Lexus ES 300h

Toyota is all set to enter the luxury market with the hybrid Lexus ES 300h. The Lexus ES 300h epitomises the luxury branding and will take on the Volkswagen Passat and the Honda Accord hybrid.

The Lexus ES 300h will be equipped with the 2.5-litre petrol engine which is ably supported by an electric motor and the first few models will come to India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU). The sedan will share most of the hardware from the Toyota Camry.

New Volkswagen Passat

Volkswagen Passat will come to the country in an all-new avatar and will get the plug-in hybrid variant as well in the form of Passat GTE. The new VW Passat will be powered by the 1.4-litre 156bhp TFSI engine.

The plug-in hybrid can be charged via normal power socket or by the 1.4-litre petrol unit. Initially, the new VW Passat will be launched with a 1.8-litre petrol and hybrid powertrain and the 2.0-litre diesel unit will come in later.

Toyota Vios

Another sedan to mix up the competition in the sedan segment which is dominated by Honda City and the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. Most of the designing cues are from the Toyota Altis and this sedan is much better looking than the Etios.

Toyota is expected to power the Vios with the same engines as the Etios' 1.5-litre petrol and the 1.4-litre diesel unit.
