Tata Tiago Hatchback Bookings Open At Select Dealerships

Tata Motors plans on introducing their all-new hatchback the 'Tiago' in India soon. Rumour is doing the rounds that the Tiago will be launching on March 28, 2016. Now the Indian-based automobile manufacturer has opened bookings for the Tiago at certain dealerships.

Dealerships are accepting bookings for approximately Rs. 10,000. The entire booking amount is refundable if the customer does not like Tiago on seeing it or believes pricing is too much. Tata Motors would like to rake up as many pre-bookings as possible with the Tiago.

Under the hood of Tata Tiago is a 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre, three cylinder petrol and diesel engine respectively. The diesel engine produces 69bhp along with 140Nm of torque and the petrol engine develops 83.8bhp and 114Nm of torque. No AMT option is provided and both engines are mated to 5-speed manual transmissions.

Previously, Tata Motors called the Tiago as Zica hatchback. Unfortunately, a recent virus outbreak in several countries was named Zika, which was similar to Tata's global product offering. The similarity in both names could cause a problem in the sale and thus was changed to Tiago.

Once launched, the Tiago by Tata Motors will compete with Hyundai i10 and Maruti Suzuki Celerio models in India. The Tiago hatchback will be introduced in international markets as well. Stay tuned for pricing and other details of soon to be launched Tiago.
