Formula E Championship Could See Mercedes Participate
Every automobile manufacturer is planning to introduce electric or hybrid vehicles in the near future. Development of these electric vehicles takes time and their major issue is range and competitive pricing.
Formula E currently serves as a platform for the development of electric vehicles. Now Mercedes-Benz plans on entering the competition to fast track development of its upcoming electric vehicles. So far, there is no official plan and a Formula E team is only being considered.
Currently, Renault, Volkswagen, Citroen, and Mahindra are part of the Formula E Championship. Jaguar has announced that they will be part of Formula E season 3. At this moment, Tesla and LeEco have successful and popular electric vehicles on offer.
Manufacturers like Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar, and Audi need to come up with an electric vehicle. So far, Mercedes-Benz has confirmed the unveil of an all-electric SUV concept at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. Both Jaguar and Audi also plan to introduce electric SUVs soon.
