Ford EcoSport Facelift Details - Here Is What We Know

With India in the grip of compact SUV launches, Ford has given a facelift to the EcoSport. What are the changes? Read on to find out.

First, the power of the EcoSport has been upgraded to 99bhp compared to 90bhp of the old EcoSport. The torque of the 1.5-litre diesel engine has been upgraded to 205Nm at 1750-3250rpm, the old EcoSport came with 204Nm at 2000-2750rpm. So, there is a generous amount of power compared to the old EcoSport.

On the exterior of the facelifted EcoSport, DRLs and light guides have been added to it. Structurally, the new Ford EcoSport remains the same. The white reverse light has been replaced with red on the right fog lamp, however, this is seen on the left fog lamp.

The tailgate door handle features a sensor to unlock the door, this was a visible button, however, on the new EcoSport, this is very cleverly placed underneath the chrome handle with rubber coated bulb.

Another major change is the stalks, turn indicator has been reversed to the left and lights on the right. Push the wiper stalk and the rain sensing wiper is turned on.

Also, to the right of the driver is the button for the rear fog lamps which is seen in the new EcoSport. The rotary knob now has an extra feature for the automatic headlamp.

A long black strip runs at the top centre of the windshield has the light sensors for the automatic headlamp and the auto-dimming mirrors, and rain-sensing wipers.

The handbrake is moved closer to the driver and the 12V socket, USB/AUX port have also been interchanged along with the cup holders. Aluminium-finished rings and leather finish for the handbrake.

Apart from these changes, the gearshift boot gets an aluminium finished border, also, the inside door handle gets an aluminium finish, previously it was in silver colour.

Ford has given the EcoSport not only the premium changes, it has also taken feedback from the customer and changed some ergonomics as well.

Recently, Ford reduced the pricing of the EcoSport to better position it with the Maruti Vitara Brezza. The new Ecosport starts with the price tag of Rs. 6.69 lakh ex-showroom (Delhi).
