Top 10 Best Selling Cars In October — Has The Kwid Made An Entry?
September has gone past and carmakers registered decent sales. A look at top 10 cars sold in September revealed that Maruti Suzuki still leads list with the top four slots occupied by the Wagon R, Swift, Swift Dzire, and the Alto.
So, how did the carmakers manage last month? Let's take a look at top 10 selling cars for the month of October 2015.
10. Hyundai Eon
Barely making to the list is the Hyundai Eon, having sold 6,479 units in October 2015. The entry level hatchback from Hyundai competes with the Maruti Alto and Renaul Kwid.
The on-road price of the Hyundai Eon starts approximately at Rs. 3.45 lakh (Delhi) and is offered with a choice of two engines:
- 814cc petrol engine (55bhp, 75Nm torque)
- 1.0-litre petrol engine (68bhp, 94Nm torque)
9. Maruti Suzuki Celerio
The Maruti Suzuki Celerio has lost its position from the seventh place and takes the ninth spot, having sold 6,664 units in October 2015. This is a big change, in spite of the Celerio being sold with a choice of petrol and diesel engines, and an optional Automated Manual Transmission (AMT).
On-road price starts from approximately Rs. 4.18 lakh (Delhi) and the choice of engines are:
- 1.0-litre petrol engine (67bhp, 90Nm torque)
- 800cc diesel engine (46bhp, 125Nm torque)
8. Honda Amaze
Taking the eighth place is Honda's compact sedan, the Amaze. The Japanese carmaker has sold 6,971 units in October, which is an increase compared to September 2015, but still managed to drop a place in terms of ranking.
The on-road price of the Honda Amaze starts approximately at Rs. 5,63 lakh (Delhi), and is offered with a choice of engines:
- 1.2-litre petrol engine (87bhp, 109Nm torque)
- 1.5-litre diesel engine (99bhp, 200Nm torque)

Honda
City
takes
the
seventh
spot,
and
has
moved
up
the
ladder
compared
to
September
2015.
During
October
2015,
Honda
managed
to
sell
7,022
units
of
the
City
sedan
in
India.
Honda City's on-road price starts approximately at at Rs. 8,35 lakh (Delhi), and is offered with a choice of engines:
- 1.5-litre petrol engine (117bhp, 145Nm torque)
- 1.5-litre diesel engine (99bhp, 200Nm torque)
6. Hyundai Elite i20
The Hyundai Elite i20 retains the sixth position from September 2015, having sold 9,150 units in October 2015. The i20 faces stiff competition from the Volkswagen Polo and the Honda Jazz, but has managed to outsell both the vehicles.
On-road prices for the Hyundai Elite i20 starts approximately at Rs. 5.73 lakh (Delhi), and is offered with a choice of engines:
- 1.2-litre petrol engine (82 bhp, 115 Nm torque)
- 1.4-litre diesel engine (89 bhp, 220 Nm torque)
5. Hyundai Grand i10
Taking the fifth place is the Hyundai Grand i10, the best selling Hyundai product in India. The Grand i10 sold 14,079 units in October 2015, which is 25.06 percent more than it sold in September 2015.
The Hyundai Grand i10's on-road price starts approximately at Rs. 5.10 lakh (Delhi), and is offered with a choice of engines
- 1.2-litre petrol engine (81bhp, 114Nm torque)
- 1.1-litre diesel engine (70bhp, 160Nm torque)
4. Maruti Suzuki Wagon R
The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R retains the fourth place, as it has done for a long time. Maruti, the Indian carmaker has sold 14,734 units of the ‘tall boy' hatch, the Wagon R.
Wagon R's on-road price starts approximately at Rs. 4.0 lakh (Delhi), and is offered with a standard engine:
- 1.0-litre petrol engine (67bhp, 90Nm torque)
3. Maruti Suzuki Swift
Again, another model by Maruti Suzuki that has retained its place, the Swift hatchback. In spite of multiple special and limited editions, the Swift has seen drop in sales figures marginally since September. In October 2015, Maruti managed to sell 17,669 units of the Swift.
The Suzuki Swift's on-road price starts approximately at Rs. 4.97 lakh (Delhi), and is offered with a choice of engines:

- 1.3-litre diesel engine (74bhp, 190Nm torque)

level

position
as

leader.

units
during
October
2015.
The Maruti Suzuki Alto approximately costs Rs. 2.67 lakh on-road (Delhi), and is offered with a standard engine:
- 796cc petrol engine (48bhp, 69Nm torque)
1. Maruti Swift Dzire
For those expecting the Renault Kwid, you are wrong. The Dzire beats the Alto to take the number one spot as India's best selling car in October 2015, having sold 24,502 units.
The Swift Dzire's on-road price starts approximately at Rs. 5.52 lakh (Delhi), and is offered with a choice of engines:
- 1.2-litre petrol engine (83bhp, 115Nm torque)
- 1.3-litre diesel engine (74bhp, 190Nm torque)
