Yokohama Sets First Indian Plant
Yokohama set their first tyre manufacturing plant in India, Bahadurgarh in Haryana. They have invested Rs 300 crore in their India plant. Production is expected to commence in the latter half of the year.
The plant will produce a maximum of 2,000 tyres per day. However, Yokohama India claims that they have the capacity to produce 8,000 tyres on any given day.

Yokohama currently supplies tyres to Japanese car manufacturers globally. However, they haven't been supplying to any OEMs in recent times.

The tyre manufacturer is witnessing growth as a replacement brand. They are currently operating with 2% market share.
Yokohama has employed, 100 direct employees and expects to increase manpower by three times before 2015. The new plant will cater to B, B+ and C- segment by manufacturing Earth type 1 tyre.
Yokohama has 600 sale points currently in India. They include 22 Yokohama Club Network, which span across India. The network is based on their global policy, to provide a great tyre buying experience.

Yokohama is placed Eighth among the World's tyre manufacturers and is looking to increase their market share by 5%. They will compete among the tubeless tyre market.
Takeshi Fujino, MD, Yokohama, explains "At we start our production, we are initially focusing on passenger cars and at the later stage we would start manufacturing Suvs tyres and commercial vehicle."
