Volkswagen Compact SUV Coming To India Late 2014
The compact SUV currently has decent competition in the form of Nissan Terrano, Renault Duster and Ford EcoSport. Now a German automobile manufacturer wants to join their party with its Taigun. Volkswagen has realised the Indian market is growing in this segment and they need to have a product.
The Taigun compact SUV by Volkswagen was first showcased as a concept at Sao Paulo, Brazil in October, 2012. The German manufacturer later showcased the compact SUV at the 2014 Auto Expo held in New Delhi, India. The Taigun showed in India was the close to production model.

The German compact SUV will sport a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder TSI petrol powered engine. The engine will be capable of generating 175 Nm of peak torque along with a maximum power output of 110 PS. With all the power on tap, the vehicle will still return a decent 21 kpl.

Volkswagen's Taigun will weigh a merger 985 kilograms and will be a sub 4-metre vehicle at 3.86 metre. These specifications could change with the production model being a bit more longer and could also be a bit more heavier.

Volkswagen will also offer a diesel powered engine in the Taigun. It will feature a 1.4-litre, 3-cylinder turbocharged direct injection system. Power figures of the diesel engine have not been revealed, however, there are claims that the compact SUV can hit a top speed of 185 km/h.

The interior of Volkswagen Taigun is expected to be premium as well as luxurious. It will also feature latest tech goodies along with something special developed by the German engineers to give it something that stands out. Volkswagen have not confirmed the price and will reveal at the time of launch during the year end.
