Tata's Kite Promises To Be Better Than Maruti Suzuki Celerio

Maruti Suzuki boosted its sales by introducing the Celerio hatchback in India with AMT. It was also the most affordable AMT option available in the domestic market. Now the Japanese will have to face serious competition from the Indian manufacturer Tata with its Kite hatchback.

Tata Motors had showcased two new cars to join its portfolio in India. The Bolt hatchback and Zest sedan were displayed at the 2014 Auto Expo held in New Delhi. They have also announced it would launch a new car called Kite in India early next year.

Tata Kite will be placed straight up against the popular Maruti Suzuki Celerio. It will sport a smaller capacity engine, a sub 1000cc mill. The Kite hatchback will be positioned between Tata's Nano and Indica. They believe there is great potential for the Kite in its segment and it can beat the Celerio.

Tata Motors is also working with Italian transmission manufacturer Magneti Marelli. They provide transmissions for Formula One vehicles as well as for other motorsport activities. The AMT will be fitted to F-Tronic range of Tata Motors vehicle like the Nano Twist and will also be used in selected models. The Kite would surely get the AMT to compete with Maruti Suzuki's Celerio.

The Indian automobile giant is expected to manufacture the Kite hatchback from its facility in Sanand, Gujarat. They will utilize the complete workforce to manufacture the new vehicles that are expected to boost Tata Motors sales.

The price or launch date has not been confirmed, we only know it will be priced competitively against the Celerio and will be launched in 2015.
