SIAM Meet New Government Ministers
India now has a new party in power, which is being led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Since, he came into power the old cabinet of minister has been changed and new ministers have been hand picked by our new Prime Minister.
The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers(SIAM) had planned to meet minister in charge of Commerce, Road Transport, Environment and Heavy industries. The meet was scheduled for 16 and 17 June, 2014 and a senior level team of SIAM was led by Vikram Kirloskar, President, SIAM.
The meet was held to discuss important issues such as foreign trade policy, enhanced export incentives and a cut in excise duty on automobiles. The new government will be revealing its Budget plan by July, 2014.

Vikram Kirloskar, President SIAM, expressed, "We were very encouraged by the response of all the Ministers and feel confident that Government would take a clear and holistic view of the automotive industry and work towards creating an enabling stable policy framework to ensure sustained growth of the auto industry."
The SIAM team also discussed with the possibility of free movement between states by vehicles, focus and promotion of hybrid as well as electric vehicles. They also discussed over the issue of overloading of vehicles and how to prevent it.
