Prime Minister Of Bhutan Wants Nation To Switch To Electric Cars
Bhutan is looking to be a pollution free country very soon. The Prime Minister wants all the gasoline powered cars to be made electric powered within an as-yet-unknown time period. Bhutan is looking for sustainable transportation that will keep citizens happy.
Initially, the plan was to introduce 2000 electric cars to Bhutan. Carlos Ghosn, CEO of Renault- Nissan visited the country, and Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay said he wanted his country to attain zero percent emission.

The Prime Minister of Bhutan visited Japan a week ago. On his visit, he asked Nissan and Mitsubishi about the feasibility of replacing all gasoline-powered vehicles with electric powered ones. He wants his people to have a choice of more eco-friendly vehicles.

Togbay has clearly made a point saying gasoline is very expensive. He says more sustainable transportation like electric vehicles will keep the citizens happy. The Prime Minister says this move will help improve the country's "Gross National Happiness".
All this might not seem practical, but think again, Bhutan, being a mountainous region, produces lots of renewable energy like electricity, of which more than 90% is imported by India. In turn, fuel is bought with the profit they make to utilise for their vehicles.
