This concept car was to be put to production in limited numbers last year, but seeing that it wouldn't pass safety standards, Pininfarina chief designer Fabio Filippini, said he knew where the car needed work to make it road legal.

The story continues on the next slide.

This unique design is based on the Ferrari 458 Italia. The car will have a standard 458 drivetrain, with a 4.5-litre V8, producing 570 hp. The car can achieve 100 km/h from standstill in 3.2 seconds and has a top speed of 320 km/h.

The car boasts a Barchetta body style. It has no windshield or a roof. The C-pillars act as a roll bar protecting the passengers inside.

The doors, unlike the 458 Italia's conventional ones, are a quarter scissor setup.

The car is totally redesigned and is rumoured to be priced at USD 2 million per unit. The company said the car would take four and a half months time to reach customers. Since there has not been any car produced till date, it looks like the company has scrapped production plans.

Sergio Pininfarina, was the person behind the designs of Ferraris like the 360, 328 and the legendary Ferrari F40. It was Pininfarina who convinced Enzo Ferrari to have a mid-engine configuration for his cars. Aged 85, the great craftsman died on July 3, 2012.
