Mercedes-Benz Advanced Diploma in Automotive Mechatronics In Kerala
German automaker Mercedes-Benz has developed a special course for engineering and diploma students called Advanced Diploma in Automotive Mechatronics (ADAM) which was recently adopted by the Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala's Government Engineering College (GEC), Barton Hill.
The course is targeted towards engineering graduates holders but diploma degree holders may can also apply. ADAM is a 1 year course consisting of four modules - mechanical, electronics, vehicle systems and soft skills.

The Mercedes-Benz developed course was already available in two other government polytechnic colleges in Pune and Aurangabad. These government polytechnics already have trained 266 students so far.

To enroll for the course students have to undergo an entrance test conducted by the college authorities. The GEC, Barton Hill start the first batch with 20 students and it will commence from 19th March 2014.
Students who have cleared the course get certificates signed by the Director of Technical Education, Kerala and Mercedes-Benz India.
The ADAM facilitie in Kerala is equipped with ultramodern electronics lab, car bay and aggregate training rooms, equipped with Mercedes-Benz training cars, latest engines, gearboxes and e-lab equipment., all of which are provided by Mercedes-Benz. The automaker was also involved with training GEC lecturers and supply of tools & equipment to the students.
Commenting on the association, Mr. Devdutta Chandavarkar, Vice President-After Sales, Mercedes-Benz India said "We need qualified, industry-ready professionals for the rapidly growing luxury car market in the country. The prime reason behind starting this course was the scarcity of skilled automobile engineers, especially those who could work on modern cars with latest technology. With this course, engineering students will be trained on Mercedes Benz cars and will also be awarded the "Advance Diploma in Automotive Mechatronics."
