Kia Begins Production Of Soul EV
The South Korean manufacturer Kia Motors has commenced mass production of its new electric vehicle the Soul EV. The new electric vehicle is being manufactured for export sales. The Soul EV by Kia is the first electric vehicle to be marketed by the company out of South Korea.
The first batch of Soul EV will b exported to certain European countries. Kia will offer its vehicle to the rest of the world by the end of 2014. Kia will manufacturer its Soul EV from its facility in Gwangju, Korea. The facility can produce 5,000 electric vehicles every year.

Thomas Oh, Executive Vice President and COO, Kia Motors Corporation expressed, "Now that production of export models has begun, the new Soul EV is truly at the forefront of Kia's ‘Clean Mobility' program, providing environmentally-friendly transport to our customers around the world."

Kia's electric vehicle will sport a high capacity 192 cell, 27 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery. It has been confirmed the Soul EV can cover 212 kilometres on a full charge. The vehicle will feature state of the art energy saving equipment. It will also have regenerative braking to recycle kinetic energy into the battery.

The Soul EV by Kia will achieve a top speed of 145 km/h. It can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in swift 11.2 seconds. If the battery of the Soul EV is drained out, charging from a household socket would take it five hours for a full charge. If you can get a 50 kW DC charger the battery can be recharged in as little as 33 minutes.
Thomas Oh commenting on the production of its electric vehicle said, "Although it is Kia's first globally-sold all-electric vehicle, the Soul EV is our second-generation battery electric vehicle and benefits significantly from our in-depth experience gained from development of the Ray EV and proven daily operations of the Ray EV fleet in Korea for the past three years."
