Important Car Launches So Far In 2014

The year 2014 jump started with the 12th edition of Auto Expo showcasing several new models. The truth is, the Indian automobile industry has seen better days over the last two years. The industry is slowly reviving again though - launches of new models are a very good sign of growth.

Out of the many new models launched, mass selling cars will contribute to the economy. We pick a few models from the manufacturers which people should definitely consider before buying a new vehicle.

Honda City

Honda City

This car from the Japanese manufacturer was a seller from day one. The new car was launched towards the end of 2013.This fourth generation Honda comes with mechanical upgrades and a diesel engine too, after the success Amaze was. The base petrol will start at INR 7.42 lakh.

Maruti Suzuki Celerio

Maruti Suzuki Celerio

Maruti launched the Celerio at a very affordable price of INR 3.90 lakh. Within two months of its launch, it crossed 32,000 bookings and boosted its market share to 44%. The company has planned to manufacture 10,000 units a month to keep up with demand.

Hyundai Xcent

Hyundai Xcent

The Korean auto manufacturer and exporter launched the Xcent at INR 4.66 lakh. This was a very competitive price bracket. In three months time, it snatched away the second position from the Amaze. The car features 1 GB of music storage and the rear passengers get AC vents. They sold over 7,000 units in the first month itself. This is a car to watch out for.

Datsun GO

Datsun GO

The Datsun Go is targeted for the emerging markets. On sale for INR 3.12 lakhs, it sold 6,800 units in three months. This car has to fight hard since the entry level segment is dominated by Maruti and Hyundai.

Ford Fiesta

Ford Fiesta

Ford recently showed the world their latest Fiesta. This facelifted model will be available only with a diesel motor, but in three variants, with Ford claiming a fuel efficiency of 25 kmpl. The company is looking to boost their sales, pricing the new Fiesta at INR 7.69 lakhs.
