Honda Amaze Surprised With Their Annual Sales
Honda had launched its compact sedan, which is based on its Brio hatchback. It was the Japanese manufacturers first attempt at an affordable sedan for the masses. The Amaze is available in petrol and also got the first diesel engine produced by the manufacturer.
The Japanese manufacturer's first attempt with a diesel vehicle was a recipe for success. The Amaze has been on sale for a over a year now and Honda India were in for a treat as the compact sedan sold 88,000 vehicles since its launch. This is great news in times when most manufacturers are complaining about a slowdown.
The Amaze has Honda's first diesel engine sporting a 1.5-litre mill and will generate 200 Nm of peak torque along with a power output 98 horsepower. Honda claim its compact sedan delivered a fuel efficiency of 25.8 kpl in ARAI testing.

Honda' Amaze is available in a 1.2-litre petrol i-VTEC option. It is capable of producing 109 Nm of torque and a maximum power output 86 horsepower. The Amaze boasts of superior fuel efficiency of 18 kpl ARAI certified.
The Amaze by Honda competes in a tough segment against the likes of Maruti Suzuki's Swift Dzire and the recently launched Hyundai Xcent. Both the vehicles are available in petrol as well as in diesel trims. The Amaze feels a bit more premium and upmarket compared to its competition.
Honda have been successful with the Brio base and will be soon launching a third vehicle. The Japanese manufacturer will use the Brio platform for a MPV, called Mobilio. Brio, Amaze and Mobilio will be based on the hatchback and will complete a range and will share several components between them.
