Formula One 2014 Red Bull Ring Result
The eighth round of Formula One 2014 was set for a thriller as Williams Felipe Massa and teammate Valtteri Bottas beat the Mercedes duo in qualifying. Lewis Hamilton started the race in ninth position, while his teammate Nico Rosberg secured third position. This was the first time in 2014 that another team secured pole position.
The race at Red Bull Racing's home track Red Bull Ring began well with no incidents in the first corner. Hamilton started the race in spectacular fashion and was up into fifth position in the first lap itself. Within a couple of laps he overtook Fernando Alonso for fourth position and was determined to get ahead of his competition.

Reigning and defending World Champion Sebastian Vettel had no luck beside him as he started the race in the middle of the pack. He dropped to the end of the pack due to an electrical issue, which did not allow him to accelerate. As soon as he was lapped by the leaders power came back and he resumed his pace.

It was not the best day for the Red Bull outfit as the best performer was Daniel Ricciardo, who finished the race in eighth position. Toro Rosso duo retired due to suspension and brake issue. Sebastian Vettel retired from his teams home race in the 34th lap and failed to secure any point for the team.

Scuderia Ferrari duo Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen both secured points. The Spanish driver finished the race in fifth position, while Finnish teammate Secured the sole point of the race in tenth. Indian owned Force India also secured points with Sergio Perez in sixth position and Nico Hulkenberg in ninth place.
It was a good outing for the Williams team who secured significant points in third and fourth position. Felipe Massa was outpaced by his teammate Valtteri Bottas. The top two positions are as good as reserved for the Mercedes duo. Nico Rosberg increased his Championship lead from Lewis Hamilton. The German stood first with the British driver 1.9 seconds behind him in second.

The next Formula One race is scheduled for 6th July, 2014 at Silverstone. Hamilton will be wanting the win at his home race more than anyone in the current paddock.
