Force Motors Plans To Invest Big Over The Next 4 Years

Force Motors has plans of investing big money in the next four years. Around INR 1,000 crore will be invested for different ideas which includes product development and setting up a unit exclusively for assembling engines for BMW vehicles.

Prasan Firodia, Managing Director for Force Motors said that the investment is for technology advancement, new vehicle development and a factory in Chennai to assemble BMW engines.

Force Motors is already developing a new light commercial vehicle which will sell alongside the very popular Tempo. This new van will be ready in the next few years.

The Pune-based company currently manufactures the Traveller range of passenger vehicles in their factory in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh.

Firodia said that they will invest around INR 100 crores only for the BMW facility and this will be operational very soon, probably by January next year. He said that there will be an investment by BMW as well for some of the equipment.

The company at the moment assembles engines for a few models of Mercedes as well.

The planned facility will be at Anjur village in Kancheepuram district of Tamil Nadu. The plant will manufacture gearboxes and other aggregates as well.

Force Motors at present has two plants in India. Their small commercial vehicles and tractors are manufactured at Pune, where as the SUVs, MUVs and a few other commercial vehicles are manufactured at Pithampur in Madhya Pradesh.
