BMW i8 India Launch Confirmed With Teaser Image & Video
It has been officially confirmed by BMW India. Bavarian Motor Works will be launching the i8 hybrid sports car in India at the 2014 Auto Expo next month. The automaker has done this through social media platforms, by the way of a teaser image on its Facebook fan page and a YouTube video.

BMW i8 will act as the new halo car for the automaker in India and it is likely going to be its most expensive offering in the country and boasts of technology and features not seen in its other models. You might be amused to known that if you have just learned about the i8's impending launch in India you are already too late to own one, considering you have the money in the first place of course.
That's because only 7 to 8 units of i8 will be imported to India and all of them have already been spoken for. Deliveries of these units are expected to take place by the end of this year or in early 2015. BMW will most likely bring more i8 hybrid sport cars to India but those who have missed out on the opportunity now will likely have to wait for another year to get their hands on them.
BMW i8's global launch took place at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September 2013. This technologically advanced hybrid sports car comes with two powerplants - a small 1.5 liter twin turbocharged 231 HP/320 Nm torque petrol engine that drives the front wheels and an electric motor, capable of generating 131 HP/250 Nm torque, to power the rear wheels.
The combined power output of 362 HP and 570 Nm of torque is enough to propel this lightweight sports car built from carbon fiber and composite materials to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and to an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h.
More importantly, unlike other sports cars BMW i8 deliveries an incredible combined average fuel economy of 40 km/l. The i8's green credentials are not limited to its hybrid powerplant, but extends to its construction, with large parts of it being fully recyclable.
