BMW i8 Hybrid Sportscar Deliveries Commence

BMW is the first among the conventional manufacturers to official sell a hybrid sportscar. They have now begun with the deliveries of its i8 hybrid sports car and customers are delighted about. The deliveries commenced early in the week and they have introduced the vehicle with laser-headlights.

BMW delivered the first eight vehicles to German customers in a special event held in its headquarters based in Munich. All the i8 hybrid sportscar will be provided with laser-headlights. The i8 was showcased in the 2014 Auto Expo held in New Delhi.

BMW has promised that the i8 hybrid sportscar will be launched in India before the end of 2014 and deliveries could begin early next year. Price of the i8 in India has not been confirmed and we do not expect it to be an affordable option and will attract a more premium price tag.

BMW will be sending a few i8 hybrid sports cars to United States of America. The German manufacturer will sell the cars in America for a price of USD 1,36,650, which translates to INR 80,85,580. We still expect the i8 will cost more in India when it is launched.

Roland Kruger, President of BMW Group Germany said, "In November of last year, we welcomed the first BMW i3 customers here at BMW Welt. Today, we are continuing the BMW i success story with the first eight BMW i8 customers worldwide."

He further added, "As ‘the first of a new era', the BMW i8 combines the sustainable design of a carbon-fibre body with a powerful plug-in hybrid."
