Toyota Price Hike Across Lineup From Sept 21

By Ganesh

Toyota Kirloskar has become the latest Indian car manufacturer to hike prices across its lineup. The automaker has announced that prices across its product lineup will be increased by a maximum amount of Rs 24,000. Changes will be applicable starting from September 21.

The primary reason behind the price hike is the increasing cost of raw materials, which in term is the result of depreciating value of Indian rupee against the dollar.

"Due to inflation, falling rupee and increase in the cost of materials, the company was forced to pass on the increase in cost to the customers," Toyota Kirloskar Motor said in a statement.

Toyota's price hike was preceded by Ford India, which bumped up the asking price of the EcoSport earlier this month. Other Ford models will also be affected. The other Indian manufacturer that started asking more for three of its products was GM India, which hiked prices by as much as Rs 10,000.
