Rolls Royce Ghost Chengdu Golden Sunbird Edition Gets Previewed

Following the announcement of the one-off Celestial Phantom at the Frankfurt Auto Show Rolls Royce has previewed yet another one-off, model. This is based on the less expensive Phantom. As Rolls Royce has itself stated, almost every car it builds is bespoke, customized according to a customer's tastes.

Only when the vehicle is unique in a unique way does Rolls Royce care to publically preview it. The Ghost Golden Sunbird edition is one such bespoke car, which the company showcased on its Facebook page. The official name of the car is Ghost Chengdu Golden Sun Bird.

Rolls Royce Ghost Chengdu Golden Sunbird Edition

The theme of this one-off Ghost is the Golden Sun Bird. This is an ancient Chinese artifact, which was discovered in 2001 in the city of Chengdu.

The artifact is a circular foil, made of nearly pure gold. It features patterns representing sun birds flying in anti-clockwise direction, around a central sun pattern. The actual artifact measures 12.5 cm in diameter and weighs 20 grams.

Rolls Royce has based it's Ghost Golden Sunbird's design and styling on the artifact's features. The golden theme for example. The entire central length of the car, extending from the bonnet till the boot has been painted gold. The golden paint also wraps around the front grille.

The Spirit of Ecstasy also appears to be golden. But we cannot be sure whether its just gold plated or solid gold. The wheel's central hub cap also wears the same golden paint.

The sides of the Ghost have been given Sunbird inspired pin stripe motif.

The sill plate wears a golden plaque that reads the name of the special car and states it is a one-off model.

The interior is done in rich leather of light brown colour that matches well with the golden paint. The headrest features the Sunbird logo embroidery.
