Frankfurt - Rolls Royce Celestial Phantom Shows Its Love For BMW
Perhaps no other automaker has ever given a tribute to its parent company like Rolls Royce has now, at the Frankfurt Auto Show. While it is common to announce special edition models to commemorate an anniversary, the British luxury carmaker has gone one step ahead.
At IAA in Frankfurt Rolls Royce is showcasing a special one-off Phantom saloon. The special car marks the 10th anniversary of Rolls Royce passing into the hands of the BMW Group. Since 75 percent of all Phantoms and Ghost models have something bespoke in them, this one-off may look like just another custom built Rolls, but peak inside and there is something different about Starlight Headliner.
The Starlight Headliner is general is made from a thousand hand woven optic fiber lights, which presents the visual of a dark night sky, dotted with stars. This one-off Phantom, called the Celestial Phantom has a Starlight Headliner that marks constellations, exactly as they were at mid-night of January 1st, 2003. The day Rolls Royce was swept off its wheels by BMW.
The exterior of the one-off extended wheelbase Celestial Phantom has even been painted in a dark hue that matches the mysterious night sky, thanks to fine particles of glass that were mixed with the paint. The exterior is finished with engraving to wheel centres and an uplit Spirit of Ecstasy figurine.
The interior is wrapped in the finest of leather, in a ‘Dusk' hue that further highlights the starry headliner. Even the reflection of the ‘stars' in the surface of the rear drinks compartment lid was meticulously planned and designed. Celestial Phantom also comes with Rolls Royce Picnic Set with hand engraved Celestial motif.
