2015 Ford Mustang: Specs, Features, Images & Details Official Reveal

It's official. The 2015 Ford Mustang has been officially revealed in all its glory, for the first time in its almost 50 year long history, all across the globe. Ford revealed its flagship muscle car in six cities across four continents.

For the first time ever, the 2015 Mustang has been made a global model, with Ford officially selling it across Europe and even Asian markets. Ford is even likely to bring the Mustang to India for the first time ever.

The launch of the sixth generation Mustang will, however, take place on April 17, 2014. The day the first Mustang was launched in the States. Engine & Transmission

As revealed through the leaks, the new Mustang will come with the 3.7 liter V6, 5.0 liter V8 and the new 2.3 liter EcoBoost engines. Not surprisingly, the EcoBoost engined Mustang will offer class leading fuel economy.

5.0 liter V8 GT

The top of the line engine will deliver over 420 HP and 528 Nm of torque, and comes with upgrades such as a new intake manifold offering improved low speed air intake, for improved fuel economy, idle stability and emissions.

2.3 liter EcoBoost four cylinder

Mustang EcoBoost engine features direct injection, variable cam timing and turbocharging which will provide a segment leading fuel efficiency without compromising on performance. A unique intake manifold and turbocharger housing enable it to deliver over 305 HP and 406 Nm of torque.

Base 3.7 liter V6

The entry level 3.7 liter V6 has been upgraded to be more efficient and it manages to offer a sufficient 300 HP and 366 Nm of torque.
A standard six speed manual and optional six speed auto transmission, the latter with paddle shifters, deliver smoother shifts.

The new Mustang is an evolution of the classic design that's modern yet manages to stick to its traditional styling some of the new design features highlighted by Ford are as follows:
- A lower, wider stance with a reduction in roof height, and wider rear fenders and track
- The return of Mustang fastback with a sleeker profile enabled by more steeply sloped windshield and rear glass
- Three-dimensional, tri-bar taillamps with sequential turn signals
- Contemporary execution of the signature shark-bite front fascia and trapezoidal grille

Also of note are the very attractive, almost concept car like LED headlights, both at the front and rear

The new Mustang convertible features a multi-layer insulated cloth top that gives the car a more upscale appearance and also cuts down cabin noise. The new top lowers folds back twice as fast as before, and has a sleeker profile.

The center console, with its flip switches and dials, is aviation-inspired and looks top notch in terms of fit and finish. The wider body also provides improved shoulder and hip room for passengers. Ford says the trunk can hold up to to golf bags.

For the first time, the Mustang is fitted with an all new suspension system, with a multi link independent setup at the rear. At the front, a new perimeter subframe helps to stiffen the structure while reducing mass, providing a better foundation for more predictable wheel control that benefits handling, steering and ride.The new double-ball-joint front MacPherson strut system also enables the use of larger, more powerful brakes. Ford says, this will be the best stopping Mustang till date and will be offered with three brake packages.

The geometry, springs, dampers and bushings all have been specifically modified and tuned for this high-performance application. New aluminum rear knuckles help reduce unsprung mass for improved ride and handling.

The 6th gen Mustang is the most feature rich till date. A few of these include Intelligent Access with push-button start to SYNC and MyKey, Track Apps, MyColor gauges, new Shaker Pro audio system, Blind Spot Information System with cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control and SYNC AppLink.

To commemorate the original Mustang's 50th anniversary every 2015 Mustang will wear a badge on the instrument panel featuring the galloping pony logo and the words "Mustang - Since 1964."
